News and Updates
Tuesday June 10, 2014
OTG Members,
All outstanding issues with the company have been resolved. We will therefore be moving forward on with bargaining.
There will be a proposal meeting next Tuesday June 17 at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel (Pearson Airport) in the Interlaken room from 11:30am to 1:00pm and again from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. It is imperative that everyone attends and expresses their ideas about making positive changes at OTG.
We will be taking proposals and electing a negotiating committee on that day.
Click HERE for more information regarding the proposal meeting and what you can do.
Look forward to seeing you all there!

Ufcw 206 would like to update everyone to the status of the campaign. We had our first meeting at the Labour Board Wednesday, June 4. The company continues to propose bargaining units that are not appropriate for the employees of OTG. Lets be clear, UFCW works for every member, even the ones that didn't sign cards and didn't vote for the union. We cannot allow the company to carve positions out of the bargaining unit; we are all in this together.
On Monday June 9, a formal hearing will proceed where the company has to give evidence stating why the proposed bargaining unit of the Union isn't appropriate. To date, they have made no such arguments. We are confident that we will get what we set out to do, and that is to represent ALL employees of OTG. We also know that everyone can see this for what it really is: a stalling tactic by the Employer, so they can delay the process and delay giving you the wages and benefits that you deserve.
We will be in contact shortly to schedule a proposal meeting. We want as many people as possible to attend!!
The more that people participate in the bargaining process the better the collective agreement we can achieve.
As always, please keep us informed of any issues that arise.

What's next???
The union will be meeting with the company on June 4 at the Ontario Labour Relations Board. The only issue left to discuss is bargaining unit description: the Union seeks to represent all OTG employees in Ontario, and the Company wants only the current restaurants under the current names. We are very confident that we will be successful.
Once the Labour Board has made a ruling, we will then have a proposal meeting with everyone at OTG. At the meeting we will take proposals on what you would like to see in a collective agreement, and also elect a negotiating committee from the floor. It is very important that everyone show up and make their voice heard! A Union is only as strong as the membership!
The website will be offering weekly status updates and helpful things that you can do throughout the process.
We will be trying our best to make this process as quick as possible,
Joe Blythe,
