Will Harper deliver a Real Budget for Canadians?

Tomorrow is the test. The Conservative government of Stephen Harper brings down its budget for the next chapter in Canada’s future on Tuesday, January 27, only after re-calling the Parliament it cowardly suspended late last year.

 “The prorogation of Parliament was entirely unnecessary and a blow to the democratic process in Canada,” UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley says. “The economic crisis that has gripped Canada insists that we find new ways to deal with the challenges before us.”

Workers at the world’s largest meatpacking plant choose UFCW International representation

Tar Heel, N.C. – Dec. 11/08 —  Workers at Smithfield Packing in Tar Heel, North Carolina, have chosen union representation with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (UFCW).  Workers voted 2041 to 1879 for a voice on the job.
