Childcare 2020 conference calls for support of national child care program
Winnipeg – November 22, 2014 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined hundreds of other community at Childcare 2020 — the fourth-ever national child care policy conference ever held in Canada, and the first in a decade.


Ottawa – November 13, 2014 – Recently, NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair announced his party’s plan to create one million affordable childcare spaces across Canada. The goal of this plan is to ensure parents don’t pay more than $15 a day for a childcare space.
Toronto – September 26, 2014 – October 2014 will mark the 85th anniversary of the Persons Case. The highest court ruling in October 1929, not only asserted that women were “persons” in Canadian society but that they had the right to hold a seat in the Senate and pursue politics.
Toronto – April 22, 2014 – On April 16, the first Equal Pay Day recognized by the Ontario government, UFCW Canada and Local Union activists joined community allies and members of the Equal Pay Coalition to demand pay equity for workers at a major rally held in Toronto.
Toronto – April 10, 2014 – On April 16, UFCW Canada activists from across the province will come together to participate in events marking Ontario’s first Equal Pay Day. The day is a time to celebrate our success in achieving pay equity, specifically through collective bargaining, and to reiterate our commitment to attaining equal pay for all workers across the country.
