Activists stand up for statutory holidays in York Region

Newmarket, Ont. – December 18, 2017 – Activists from UFCW Locals 175 and 1006A and the UFCW Canada National Office were out in full force at a York Region Council meeting on December 14 to stand up for public holidays for retail workers in the region.


Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, and Montreal – December 14, 2017 – Across the country, UFCW Canada activists stepped up to raise awareness at December 6 Shoe Memorials to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Toronto – December 5, 2017 – Each year on December 10, we commemorate the 1948 United Nations adoption of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.
Ottawa – November 30, 2017 – UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema and UFCW Local Union presidents and activists from across the country recently gathered in Ottawa to participate in political action meetings with government ministers and Members of Parliament.
Toronto – November 28, 2017 – The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities was first proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly.
