Over the past several years, UFCW Canada has consistently worked on building broad national partnerships with a variety of community and social justice organizations, including the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Two-spirited and Queer (LGBTQ) community.
The International Day Against Homophobia (or IDAHO, as it is sometimes known) is celebrated around the world on Sunday, May 17. This annual day to mark the fight to make our society inclusive of all sexualities was founded in Montreal in 2003 by the human rights group Fondation Émergence. It was quickly embraced across Canada, and then internationally.

UFCW Canada activists joined over 100,000 Quebeckers in Montreal on August 15 to stand tall for basic fairness and equality by participating in the city’s 18th Annual Gay Pride Parade.
