UFCW and allies secure pay protection, EI eligibility for migrant workers during COVID-19 pandemic
Toronto – April 6, 2020 – UFCW Canada, the Agriculture Workers Alliance (AWA), and our community allies have achieved pay protection and Employment Insurance (EI) eligibility for migrant and temporary foreign workers who are laid off, have become ill, or have to quarantine due to COVID-19.


Ottawa – February 28, 2020 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined labour allies from across the country in Ottawa to participate in a series of political action meetings with government ministers and Members of Parliament (MPs).
Niagara Falls, Ont. – February 24, 2020 – UFCW Canada activists joined thousands of education workers, labour allies, and community groups from across Ontario at a major rally in Niagara Falls on Saturday to denounce Doug Ford’s anti-worker policies and cuts to valuable public services.
Toronto – October 30, 2019 – Activists from UFCW Locals 1006A and 175 and the UFCW Canada National Office, together with community groups and allies from the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), welcomed MPPs back to Queen’s Park on Monday by demanding that Doug Ford’s Conservative government stop its reckless cuts and create an Ontario for everyone.
