UFCW the voice of food workers at “A Food Policy for Canada” Summit

Ottawa – June 28, 2017 – UFCW Canada recently joined dozens of food activists and industry experts at the Infinity Convention Centre in Ottawa for the Government of Canada’s “A Food Policy for Canada” Summit.


Toronto – June 21, 2017 – UFCW Canada welcomes the passage of Bill C-16, which has now received Royal Assent from the Senate.
Toronto – June 16, 2017 – UFCW Canada welcomes the federal government’s repeal of anti-union legislation from the Stephen Harper era, and the government’s commitment to protect and advance the union and collective bargaining rights of all workers in Canada.
Vancouver – June 1, 2017 – On election night in British Columbia, no party managed to win a majority of seats in the legislature, meaning B.C. will have its first minority government in 65 years.
Toronto – May 30, 2017 – UFCW Canada is encouraged by the Government of Ontario’s announcement today that it will strengthen the province’s labour laws by boosting the minimum wage, mandating equal pay for equal work, increasing vacation and personal leave entitlements, and enhancing union rights for some sectors, and says additional reforms are needed to ensure that all workers are fully protected under the law and are able to enjoy a good quality of life.
