UFCW young workers unite to ‘SPEAK’ at Parliament Hill, Queen’s Park

Ottawa and Toronto – December 8, 2017 – UFCW Canada young workers from across the country recently united for Phase 2 of Canada’s leading youth labour program – the UFCW Canada Young-Workers Internship Program (YIP).


Ottawa – November 30, 2017 – UFCW Canada National President Paul Meinema and UFCW Local Union presidents and activists from across the country recently gathered in Ottawa to participate in political action meetings with government ministers and Members of Parliament.
Toronto – November 25, 2017 – The Trudeau government’s claim of working for the middle class has taken a hit over the last few weeks due to the release of the Paradise Papers – a leak of over 13 million files from two offshore service providers and 19 tax havens’ company registries.
Toronto – November 24, 2017 – UFCW Canada activists from across Ontario led the way at the 14th Biennial Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) Convention, involving more than 1,200 delegates and leaders representing a million plus union members throughout the province.
Toronto – November 15, 2017 – UFCW Canada activists recently attended and presented at a public hearing on Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act (2017), to demand card-check certification, automatic first contract arbitration, and pay equity for all workers in Ontario.
Montreal – November 10, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 500 activist Rosannie Filato has been elected as the new city councillor for the Montreal borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc Extension after defeating incumbent councillor Elsie Lefebvre in the city’s municipal election, held on November 5.
