Toronto – July 9, 2025 – The UFCW Canada National Indigenous Committee is pleased to once again collaborate with the Assembly of Seven Generations, a national youth-led organization, in gathering and selecting artwork to form part of the 2026 UFCW Canada Indigenous Calendar.
Toronto – June 27, 2025 – As summer reaches its height, the arrival of the Raspberry Moon (Miskomini Giizis) brings with it teachings of kindness, care, and emotional awareness.This moon is a time of reflection, kindness, and emotional clarity. In Indigenous teachings, the raspberry—with its gentle texture and natural structure—symbolizes the importance of setting healthy boundaries and nurturing respectful relationships within our families and communities.
Langley, B.C. – June 18, 2025 – Ashley Baresinkoff is a proud member of UFCW Local 247, working in the retail grocery sector for more than a decade. She is a member of the UFCW Canada Indigenous Committee and her local union’s Member Engagement Committee. In the fall of 2024, she also became a recipient of the 2024 Equity Grant program under the Community Action stream.
Toronto – May 30, 2025 – As we step into the month of June, we are guided by the Strawberry Moon (Ode’miin Giizis), a sacred time in the Anishinaabe calendar that symbolizes reconciliation, forgiveness, and community healing. Known as the “heart berry,” the strawberry represents love and the importance of emotional honesty.
Toronto – April 30, 2025 – As we enter the month of May, we are welcomed by the Flower Moon (Waawaaskone Giizis), a sacred time in many Indigenous cultures that honours the return of vibrant blooms and the healing energy of nature. May is a time to nurture our spirits, reflect on our personal growth, and deepen our connection with the natural world.
Toronto – April 1, 2025 – As we step into April, we embrace the season of renewal, growth, and reflection. April brings forth a time of deep connection to the land and the earth's cycles, as well as an opportunity to celebrate Indigenous cultures and traditions. In many Indigenous communities, April is symbolized by the Sucker Moon, a time when life begins to bloom anew and the rhythms of nature guide us through a period of transformation.
