UFCW observes International Day of Persons with Disabilities – December 3
December 3 marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Commemorated by the United Nations since 1992, on this day we affirm our commitment to continue fighting for disability inclusion at work and in society at large.


Toronto – November 17, 2021 – Since 1999, the Transgender Day of Remembrance has been observed annually on November 20, following the murder of Rita Hester.
Vaughan, Ont. – October 28, 2020 – UFCW Local 1006A Recorder Glacier Effs-Samuel recently interviewed member-activists Kallisha Hoyes and Rechev Browne on their thoughts regarding the Black Lives Matter movement for racial equality and justice.
Toronto – September 24, 2020 – UFCW Canada will once again be commemorating Orange Shirt Day, September 30, with online actions in support of this year’s event. The Orange Shirt Day initiative began in 2013, following the St. Joseph’s Mission Residential School Commemoration held in Williams Lake, B.C.
Toronto – August 31, 2020 – Activists from UFCW Canada’s Indigenous Sub-Committee recently gathered in fellowship and friendship through a virtual meeting with Traditional Indigenous Elder Dr. Duke Redbird, as part of the Myseum of Toronto’s “Ask an Elder” series.
