Toronto – May 13, 2015 – UFCW Canada national and local union leaders recently gathered at the biannual UFCW National Council meeting held in Toronto, Ontario.
As Canadians, we are often told that Canada has a long history of being more tolerant and accepting of minority groups than our American neighbours. While this may be true of the past century, was Canadian treatment of minorities always so positive?
Toronto – April 7, 2015 – The International Day of Pink started as a high school initiative, and has since evolved into an annual day across the country where people wear pink and stand in solidarity to raise awareness to stop homophobia, transphobia, transmisogyny, and all forms of bullying.
Ottawa – March 31, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists joined more than 800 labour and social justice allies from across Canada and the United States for the second annual Progress Summit, held in Ottawa from March 26 to 28.
Toronto – March 18, 2015 – On March 21, 1960, in the Township of Sharpeville in apartheid-era South Africa, government forces massacred 69 people, including ten children, who were part of a peaceful protest outside of a local police station.
