Activists call on government to improve Ontario’s labour laws
Toronto – April 26, 2017 – UFCW Canada recently joined the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) and its affiliates at a press conference held at Queen’s Park to call on the Ontario government to reform the province’s labour laws and address the rise of precarious work.


Montreal – April 20, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at Brault & Martineau stores in Laval, Repentigny, and Saint-Léonard, Quebec took part in a peaceful public demonstration during the annual shareholders meeting of the BMTC Group, the company that owns Brault & Martineau.
Toronto – April 4, 2017 – UFCW Canada activists recently participated in the York University Global Labour Research Centre's (GLRC) event “Precarious and Political: Retail Workers' Struggle and Union Renewal in Ontario Supermarkets.”
Toronto – March 31, 2017 – Refugee Rights Day annually commemorates the April 4, 1985 ruling by the Supreme Court of Canada that refugee claimants are fully protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and are legally able to challenge a denial of their refugee status by the government.
Saskatoon, Sask. – March 15, 2017 – UFCW women activists from across the province gathered March 10 – 11, in Saskatoon, for the 11th Annual UFCW Saskatchewan Women’s Conference.
