UFCW Canada activists from across Eastern Canada joined nearly 1,700 participants in the annual Atlantic Region Light the Night Walk at the Halifax Commons in Halifax to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).
Grocery store workers at the IGA location on Fraser Highway in Surrey, British Columbia, recently became the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 1518 by voting “Yes!” to Canada’s leading and most progressive voice for workers and their families.
Amidst the furor over a judge’s ruling to remove Toronto mayor Rob Ford from office, an important vote recently took place by the city’s councillors that has a significant impact on tens of thousands of UFCW Canada members and retail workers in the country’s largest municipality.

Retail workers at a Staples Business Depot location in Winnipeg, Manitoba have voted “Yes!” to UFCW Canada.
Youth activists from UFCW Canada Local Unions across the country recently met in Winnipeg for the second phase of the 2012 Youth Internship Program, which focused on building strength in the retail industry, and followed Phase One where the group met in the Western Region and Ontario.
