Saskatoon, Sask. - October 20, 2013 - A team of UFCW Canada Local 1400 activists and family members recently joined 500 hundred other participants for the Light the Night walk in Saskatoon.
Chilliwack, B.C. – October 16, 2013 – Ecycle Solutions employees in Chilliwack, B.C. recently voted in strong favor of joining UFCW Local 1518. Ecycle Solutions recycles and warehouses electronic recyclables from across B.C. Electronic waste is the fastest growing type of waste in landfills, and these workers are an important part of reducing this impact and recycling these products.
Winnipeg – October 15, 2013 – UFCW Canada Local 832 recently raised more than $55,600 for leukemia research at a Light the Night event in Winnipeg.
Niagara Falls, Ont. – October 5, 2013 – More than 100 members and officers from UFCW Canada Local 12R24 enthusiastically participated in the Together Fairness Works workshop at the Local Union’s activist conference recently held in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Ottawa – October 3, 2013 – Canada’s leading union, UFCW Canada, has joined labour and social justice activists from across the country in signing the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s (NWAC) joint statement to demand government and community action on more than 600 ‘known’ cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.
Toronto – October 2, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined Egale Canada at the 5th Annual Egale Human Rights Trust Gala to celebrate another year of success. The gala also marked the launch of a groundbreaking report by Egale Canada that offers twenty recommendations for the prevention of suicide among LGBTQ youth in Canada.
