Michoacán, Mexico – July 2, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists recently visited the migrant community of Tarimbaro, Michoacán, sharing information about the human and labour rights of Mexican migrant workers in Canada.
Toronto – May 8, 2015 – Sonia Aurora Can Pop, age 9, is a recipient of the 2014 UFCW Canada Migrant Workers Scholarship. Sonia was nominated by her father Alejandro Can Caz, who since 2010 has worked in Quebec as a migrant agriculture worker through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
Toronto – March 31, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists recently gathered at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada headquarters in Toronto to protest the Harper Conservatives' plan to deport migrant workers who have worked in Canada for at least four years as part of the federal government's Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
St. Paul, Minn. – March 9, 2015 – Workers at Minnesota Medical Solutions are among the newest members of the UFCW International Union, having ratified their first contract. Minnesota Medical Solutions provides medicinal marijuana for patients in the state of Minnesota.
Toronto – February 27, 2015 – Recently, the group Students Against Migrant Exploitation (S.A.M.E.) commemorated its fifth-year anniversary.
Toronto – February 3, 2015 – Students Against Migrant Exploitation, also known as the S.A.M.E. group, is getting ready to hit the road again for its annual tour of schools, colleges and universities.
