Urgent reforms needed for migrant agricultural workers, says UFCW Canada in new report
Toronto – January 29, 2024 – UFCW Canada, the country’s leading advocate for agricultural workers for over 30 years, is calling for urgent reforms to protect the health, safety and rights of migrant workers in a new report.


Mexico City, Mexico – December 13, 2023 – In an historic first, UFCW Canada was the first union as a voice for the workers invited to join the annual Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP) review meetings between the governments of Canada and Mexico.
Mexico City, Mexico – November 17, 2023 – UFCW Canada recently joined the Mexican Chamber of Deputies (Cámara de Diputados) at a press conference in Mexico City jointly calling for improvements to the Canada-Mexico Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP).
Toronto – October 19, 2023 – UFCW Canada has signed a historic new agreement with Mexico’s largest labour organization, the Confederation of Workers in Mexico (CATEM), that calls on both organizations to work collaboratively to better protect the rights of Mexican migrant workers while in Canada.
Toronto – September 28, 2023 – Last week, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal ruled that WSIB Ontario has been illegally reducing compensation of racialized injured migrant workers for decades.
Leamington, Ont. – September 13, 2023 – UFCW Canada partnered with Vivi’r LGBTQ+ to hold a workshop for LGBTQIA+ migrant workers on Trans Justice and Trans Rights at the Agricultural Workers Centre in Leamington this August.
