Save Food Jobs in Canada – Stop the Conservative attack on a key Canadian industry

Ottawa – February 5, 2013 – Canada’s voice for food workers is calling on activists, friends and supporters to join a new campaign that tells the country’s Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz – along with Conservative Boss Stephen Harper – to immediately stop their attack on the Canadian food industry and the hard working people who make it possible.

Juan Ariza, Hampstead Survivor, should have the Right to Stay in Canada

Toronto – January 31, 2013 – On February 6, 2012, a horrific collision near Hampstead, Ontario killed eleven men, and left three others critically injured. Juan Ariza, 35, was one of those survivors. The Peruvian native had only been in Canada three days when the Hampstead tragedy changed his life forever. He had been recruited to Canada as a migrant agriculture worker.  Ever since the tragic collision, Juan has been recuperating in a nursing home in London, Ontario.

Toronto – January 7, 2013 – As another year passes, The S.A.M.E. continues to break new ground in engaging youth and their communities about the plight of migrant workers in Canada. The newest effort by The Students Against Migrant Exploitation, or The S.A.M.E., is a four-part mini-series on the experiences of migrant agricultural workers in Canada.
