Lake Simcoe, Ont. – October 7, 2015 – Recently, UFCW Canada activists joined members from various First Nations in Ontario to participate in the 2015 Waawaasegaming Water Walk ceremony to raise awareness about the importance of clean water on our planet.
Toronto – October 1, 2015 – On Sunday, October 4th, the annual Sisters in Spirit (SIS) Vigils will see candles, drumming ceremonies and actions of remembrance resonate throughout Canada in honour of the more than 1,100 Aboriginal women and girls who have been murdered or have gone missing since 1980.
Ottawa – June 20, 2015 – Dr. Cindy Blackstock, an Aboriginal child welfare advocate and President of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society, has been vindicated by a recent ruling from the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, which found that a federal government official "retaliated" against her for advocating views that are contrary to those of the Harper Government.
Toronto – June 11, 2015 – On June 9, UFCW Canada representatives came together to walk and pen their signatures to letters demanding fair and equitable services for the 163,000 First Nations children in Canada.
Ottawa – June 4, 2015 – UFCW Canada proudly sponsored and participated in the Honouring Memories, Planting Dreams initiative in Ottawa on Wednesday.
