June remains a special month on the UFCW Canada calendar, representing as it does Leukemia Awareness Month. The majority of our union’s fundraising efforts take place at this time, culminating in the gala evening in recognition of the many volunteers who are making a difference.

There are few Canadians whose lives have not been touched, in some way, by the devastating effects of substance abuse. Fewer still are unaware of the repercussions of the problem, in the workplace, and society in general (see “Facts on File”, in "More Details").
A Better World for All - Today, July 13, members of the UFCW Canadian Council executive will make history for our union when they meet in Calgary to, among other things, consider the formal establishment of the UFCW Canada Humanitarian Fund.

When Standards are Crippling - Engineered standards are a part of working life for many UFCW Canada members. Employers in many sectors, especially in warehouses, have bought into this trend of measuring workers’ movements in both time and motion, and then having supposed “experts” decide how a job will be done, and how much time will be allocated to it.
Celebrating our Work - Like many holidays, Labour Day’s origins are rooted in ancient celebrations. Communities of people have always gathered together at summer’s end, to celebrate a successful harvest, or simply to have one last outdoor festival before preparing for the winter months ahead.
