UFCW Canada activists recently joined fellow trade unionists and community allies at the Ontario Federation of Labour to celebrate Black History Month by participating in a special evening that featured the acclamied exhibit “And Still I Rise: A History of African Canadian Workers in Ontario”

After 83 days of walking a picket line, members will be returning to work
March 1, 2011 — The Manitoba labour board has ordered the 22 UFCW Canada Local 832 members who have been on strike since December 9, to return to work at the Malteurop barley malting facility in Winnipeg, after Local 832 applied for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
In Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, UFCW Canada and AWA activists joined other labour allies to protest the Mexican federal government’s attack against the union movement and workers’ rights in that country. The Canadian protests were part of a worldwide series of protests held in 30 countries in February.
