St. John’s, Nfld. – August 1, 2013 – Canada’s leading union, UFCW Canada, is calling on activists, friends, and supporters to boycott Anheuser-Busch InBev’s imported products. For more than three months, the Labatt’s Brewing Company (a subsidiary of transnational AB InBev) has forced its employees in St. John’s Newfoundland out on strike for basic fairness.

This day was created to raise awareness of the rights of indigenous peoples worldwide, and honours the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva on 9 August 9, 1982, that drafted the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
Toronto – July 31, 2013 – UFCW Canada is giving migrant workers and their families hope for a better future through the 2013 Migrant Workers Scholarship program, which offers twenty $500 union scholarships to the family members of migrant workers.
Toronto – July 28, 2013 – Canadian households spend on average about $7,700 a year on food expenditures. A number of factors influence the food we buy, where we eat it, and how it is prepared. In a recent survey, more than half of those surveyed reported they usually spent 15 minutes or less preparing dinner for themselves and their families because they were under time pressure.
Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. – July 27, 2013 – UFCW Canada made a stand for public healthcare and good jobs on Thursday by joining community allies and concerned citizens from across Ontario – and Canada – to rally for fairness at the First Ministers’ conference in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
Quebec City – July 26, 2013 – An application for union certification has been filed by UFCW Canada Local 501, after workers at Les Productions Horticoles Demers Inc. indicated their support to bring the union advantage to their workplace. Many of the workers are migrant agriculture workers from Guatemala and Mexico.

Out of 163 countries, 127 are net debtors while only 36 have a surplus (net debt is the total combined debt of a country’s public and private sectors, minus the debt owed to both sectors).
