After 83 days of walking a picket line, members will be returning to work
March 1, 2011 — The Manitoba labour board has ordered the 22 UFCW Canada Local 832 members who have been on strike since December 9, to return to work at the Malteurop barley malting facility in Winnipeg, after Local 832 applied for Alternative Dispute Resolution.
In Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, UFCW Canada and AWA activists joined other labour allies to protest the Mexican federal government’s attack against the union movement and workers’ rights in that country. The Canadian protests were part of a worldwide series of protests held in 30 countries in February.

TORONTO - Thanks to the efforts of the Agriculture Workers Alliance/UFCW Canada, the door has been opened for about 130 migrant and domestic farm workers to get the back pay they were owed when the Ontario farm they worked at declared bankruptcy last fall.
