Toronto – March 12, 2013 – A UFCW Canada infographic posted to Facebook on International Women's Day (IWD) struck a chord with social networkers around the world – who shared the image 6,182 times with their friends, totalling more than 550,000 views.

Vancouver – March 11, 2013 – The most recent scandal to besiege BC Premier Christy Clark and her Liberal government reveals how desperate they are to cling to power as they spiral toward defeat in the upcoming provincial election on May 14. The latest scandal by the BC Liberals also shows how morally and ethically bankrupt they are as a government and a political party.

Frank Kelly, 1944 - 2013

Mississauga, Ont. – March 11, 2013 – Husband, father, grandfather, and UFCW Canada brother Frank Kelly passed away on March 2, 2013 in Mississauga surrounded by the love of his family. Frank was born on April 14, 1944 in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Canada in 1966 with nothing but a strong work ethic and a quiet charm. He was a devoted husband to his wife Yolanda and a loving father to his three children, Frank Jr., Heather, and Stuart.

Retail Union activists take campaign to first-ever Target store in Canada

Guelph, Ontario - March 9, 2013 - Activists from Canada's leading retail union, UFCW Canada, engaged thousands of community members both inside and outside one of the first-ever Target retail stores to open in Canada, to Ask Target for Fairness. The Guelph location opened on March 5, at the former site of one of the more than 200 stores Target bought from Zellers in 2011.

Target snubs 25,000 terminated workers as first Canadian stores open

Toronto – March 7, 2013 – With the opening of the first three Target stores in Canada, more than 25,000 former Zellers workers continue to be left out in the cold by the American retail giant. On March 5, Target Canada opened their first-ever Canadian stores to the public - in Milton, Guelph and Fergus, Ontario. Since acquiring 189 Zellers stores more than a year ago, Target has consistently maintained that all Zellers workers would be terminated and their wage rates, benefits and years of service would not be recognized once their stores re-opened under the Target banner.
