Chicago – Wednesday, August 14, 2013 – Day three of the 7th Regular UFCW International Convention offered delegates another full day of discussion, debate, and democratic decision making about building on the strength and boldness of the membership to create a higher standard of fairness, justice and equality for North America.
Chicago – August 13, 2013 – On Tuesday, the second day of the UFCW 7th Regular Convention, the more than 2,500 delegates convening in Chicago proudly endorsed the tremendous leadership of the UFCW “Our Team” slate and its service to the membership by unanimously re-electing International President Joe Hansen and the four other members of the International Executive Committee for another term. The Executive Committee members — UFCW’s highest elected officers — include UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley, who was re-elected as one of three International Executive Vice Presidents on the committee led by International President Hansen.
Chicago – August 12, 2013 – More than 2,500 UFCW delegates and activists from across North America, including the 300-member UFCW Canada caucus, were greeted by the resounding voices of Chicago’s world famous Trinity Church of Christ Choir as the UFCW 7th Regular Convention opened Monday at Chicago’s McCormick Center. Held every five years, the Regular Convention brings together UFCW leaders, activists, and delegates to shape the future of our great union.
Toronto – August 10, 2013 – UFCW Canada is giving migrant workers and their families hope for a better future through the 2013 Migrant Workers Scholarship program, which offers twenty $500 union scholarships to the family members of migrant workers.
Toronto – August 9, 2013 – The definition of "food insecurity" is inadequate or insecure access to food because of a lack of money to buy enough food to properly feed yourself or your family.
Halifax – August 8, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists from across Nova Scotia, and throughout the Maritimes, recently gathered in Halifax to participate in the East Coast's largest PRIDE celebration.
