Montreal – February 20, 2014 – Following a series of ratification meetings, 88% of the 900 members of UFCW Canada Local 500 have voted in favour of a new collective agreement. With this seven-year agreement, retroactive to August 2013, labour contracts are renewed for employees at seven Loblaw food stores – Ahuntsic, Cavendish, Pierrefonds, Jean-Talon, Kirkland (Provigo Le Marché), Saint-Laurent and LaSalle.
Mexico City, Mexico – February 19, 2014 – The NAFTA Summit, starting today in Toluca on February 19, leaves a bitter taste for Mexican migrant farm workers in Canada. To properly celebrate Barack Obama’s and Stephen Harper’s visit, Mexico has decided to relaunch its legal battle against the right of association for its own citizens in Canada.
Surrey, B.C. – February 19, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 247 is partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) to raise money for blood cancer research by forming a Team In Training (TNT) that will participate in the Nike Women's Half Marathon in Washington, D.C on April 27, 2014.
Toronto – February 17, 2014 – Oxfam Canada has recognized UFCW Canada's National Office, Local Unions, and members for their tremendous fundraising in support of Oxfam Canada's relief efforts in the Philippines following the catastrophic Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.

Toronto – February 15, 2014 – UFCW Canada activists joined community members, Aboriginal leaders, and other allies yesterday in downtown Toronto to participate in the 9th Annual Strawberry Ceremony in Honour of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.
Toronto – February 14, 2014 – Recently, Tom Mulcair and the NDP introduced a motion in Parliament that would ensure that our veterans could, "count on the government for support in their time of need, and that the government should demonstrate this support by (a) immediately addressing the mental health crisis facing Canadian soldiers and veterans by hiring appropriate mental health professionals; (b) reversing its decision to close veterans' offices; and (c) prioritizing and concluding the over 50 outstanding boards of inquiry on military suicides so that grieving families may have answers and closure."
Toronto – February 13, 2014 – Every year citizens in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan celebrate Family Day by spending much-needed time with friends and loved ones. Many UFCW Canada members use the day to participate in activities aimed at the whole family, and a number of communities plan special public events to mark the statutory holiday.
