Montreal – April 14, 2016 – Employees at Brault & Martineau working at the retailer’s Repentigny and Saint-Léonard locations are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 501, just four months after members at a Brault & Martineau store in Laval were certified as a Local 501 bargaining unit.
Cambridge, Ont. – April 13, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1000A members working as transport drivers at National Grocers Maple Grove Distribution Centre have ratified a new contract that brings many gains including signing bonuses, wage increases and improved language.
Every year on April 28, people across the country gather to light candles and wear ribbons as they pay their respects and remember the thousands of men and women who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents. We also honour the families, coworkers, and friends whose lives have been significantly impacted by these tragedies. April 28th was chosen to reflect the anniversary of the day Ontario passed the Workers’ Compensation Act in 1914.
Washington – April 14, 2016 – Walmart workers demanding compensation for unpaid wages recently won a huge legal victory after the United States Supreme Court denied Walmart's appeal of a class action lawsuit.
