Airdrie, Alta. – April 1, 2015 – Workers at the Sierra Springs Sobeys Liquor Store in Airdrie, Alberta have become new members of UFCW Canada Local 401 after voting 100% in favour of UFCW Canada representation.
Toronto – March 31, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists recently gathered at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada headquarters in Toronto to protest the Harper Conservatives' plan to deport migrant workers who have worked in Canada for at least four years as part of the federal government's Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).
Ottawa – March 31, 2015 – UFCW Canada activists joined more than 800 labour and social justice allies from across Canada and the United States for the second annual Progress Summit, held in Ottawa from March 26 to 28.
Toronto – April 2, 2015 – In 1985, on April 4, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that refugee claimants in Canada were fully protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including their right to legally challenge a denial of their refugee status by the government.
