Canada's leading union for migrant farm workers files complaint with Ontario Human Rights Commission
Toronto – July 31, 2014 – Canada’s leading union for migrant farm workers is asking the Ontario Human Rights Commission to open an inquiry into gender-based discrimination practiced by Canadian agribusinesses that employ migrant farm workers under the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program (SAWP).
Laval, Que. – July 31, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 500 Members at the Extra Auteuil IGA in Laval, Quebec have achieved a new collective agreement effective last month. Roughly one hundred members will benefit from the contract, allowing them to build on past achievements to improve their working conditions through collective bargaining.
