One year after Rana Plaza tragedy, UFCW Canada embarks on fact-finding mission to Bangladesh
Dhaka, Bangladesh – April 23, 2014 – One year after the horrific Rana Plaza factory collapse that claimed hundreds of lives in the Greater Dhaka Area of Bangladesh, UFCW Canada is traveling to Dhaka to meet with trade unionists, health and safety experts, and survivors of the Rana Plaza tragedy to express solidarity with the building collapse victims and demand better health and safety protections for textile workers everywhere.


Montreal – April 24, 2014 – Caisse Desjardins (a credit union) de l’Est de l’Abitibi (‘‘Eastern Abitibi Region’’) employees working at service branches in Senneterre, Barraute, Landrienne, La Corne, Vassan and Saint-Marc-de-Figuery, have chosen to join UFCW Canada Local 501.
Saskatoon – April 24, 2014 – Members, activists and leaders from Locals 248P, 649 and 1400 recently came together for the annual meeting of UFCW Canada’s Saskatchewan Provincial Council. Delegates focused on sharing ideas and building strategy to best protect Saskatchewan’s working people in the face of increasing attacks on labour by federal and provincial ruling parties.
Quebec City – April 24, 2014 – Annick Lagevin Cossette is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2013. Sister Cossette is currently enrolled full-time in the Biomedical Technologies Program at Collège Shawinigan in Shawinigan, Quebec.
