Toronto – December 2, 2013 – Each year on December 6 — the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women — we commemorate the loss of the 14 women who were murdered on December 6, 1989 at Montreal's École Polytechnique simply because they were women.
Quebec City – December 2, 2013 – The 30th FTQ (Quebec Federation of Labour) Convention opened on Monday, November 25, 2013 with the theme, “Action through strength in numbers". Delegates gathered at the Quebec City Convention Centre for the five-day convention to discuss the labour federation’s strategic agenda for the next three years.
Ottawa – December 1, 2013 – December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The United Nations defines violence against women as: “Any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life."
Toronto – November 29, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists from across Ontario came out in force for the 12th Biennial OFL convention, involving more than 1,000 delegates and leaders representing a million plus union members throughout the province.
