Leamington, Ont. – November 15, 2013 – Canada’s leading food workers union is standing with the community of Leamington, Ontario today in the aftershock of the H.J. Heinz Company’s announcement that will directly cost the city more than 650 good union jobs, and the province’s agricultural sector thousands more.
Toronto – November 18, 2013 – UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking online education program webCampus will launch two new courses on November 25. The new courses, PowerPoint 2010 and Fire & Explosion, a Health and Safety course, will be offered from November 25 to December 20, available to all members and their families as well as our community partners, free of charge. Registration for the courses opens on November 18.
Montreal – November 17, 2013 – More than 220 UFCW Canada Local 291P members at Jubilant HollisterStier in Montreal were recently forced on strike after more than a year of trying to bargain a fair deal with the employer.
Montreal – November 16, 2013 – Workers at the Exceldor poultry processing facility in Saint-Anselme have ratified a first collective agreement as members of UFCW Canada Local 1991P. The agreement covers a bargaining unit of about 600 members, and runs until July 2020.
