Ottawa – November 6, 2013 – The Harper government has now proposed to substantially weaken the health and safety protections for workers employed in federally regulated industries and workplaces. The proposals are a matter of life and death and would leave federal workers faced with employer reprisal for refusing to do dangerous work.
Toronto – November 7, 2013 – Over 300 farm workers, community allies and UFCW Canada activists gathered in Toronto last night for The Annual UFCW Canada – AWA Awards Dinner, dedicated to recognizing the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations who advocate on behalf of agriculture workers and their rights.
Quebec City – November 5, 2013 – Food processing workers recently won a new union contract at the Fromagerie Albert Perron inc. cheese factory in Quebec City. The new three-year collective agreement between the employer and UFCW Canada Local 509 will be in force until June 18, 2016.
