Ramada Inn workers forced on strike in Eastern Ontario

Trenton, Ont. – October 3, 2013 – On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, approximately 35 UFCW Canada Local 175 members at the Ramada Inn situated in Trenton, Ontario commenced legal strike action against their employer, Royal Host.

UFCW Canada signs NWAC call for action, mobilizes for Sisters in Spirit vigils

Ottawa – October 3, 2013 – Canada’s leading union, UFCW Canada, has joined labour and social justice activists from across the country in signing the Native Women’s Association of Canada’s (NWAC)  joint statement to demand government and community action on more than 600 ‘known’ cases of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.

Toronto – October 2, 2013 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined Egale Canada at the 5th Annual Egale Human Rights Trust Gala to celebrate another year of success. The gala also marked the launch of a groundbreaking report by Egale Canada that offers twenty recommendations for the prevention of suicide among LGBTQ youth in Canada.
