Ottawa – April 29, 2013 – The union that represents thousands of temporary foreign workers is frustrated – but not surprised – at the glaring lack of substance in the federal government’s announcement today about “fixing” the shameful state of Canada’s temporary labour and immigration system.
Toronto – April 30, 2013 – The month of May signals a distinct vibrancy in Canada as we celebrate Asian Heritage Month. Across the country, Asian history, arts, heritage, and culture are being celebrated to highlight the significant contributions that Asian Canadians have made in building Canada.
Ottawa – May 2, 2013 – Last year was a banner year for the world’s billionaires. In 2012, the world’s super-rich saw their net worth skyrocket by 16% – at a time when all major wealth indicators (GDP, currency, equity and combined wealth) were down, according to the 2013 World Ultra Wealth Report Outlook.
Toronto – May 1, 2013 – While the wealthiest people on the planet are getting even richer, the rest of us are struggling to get by with less. But unions are an effective way to reduce the growing income gap between workers and the super-rich. This May Day, we can fight against global greed by standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world and recognizing that a strong, international labour movement is more important than ever.
