Winnipeg – February 2, 2013 – UFCW Canada Local 832 is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, representing an outstanding history of leadership and activism as Manitoba’s leading voice for food, retail and commercial workers.
Toronto – February 1, 2013 – In December 1995, Jean Augustine, the first Black woman ever to be elected to the House of Commons, introduced a motion to “take note of the important contribution of black Canadians to the settlement, growth and development of Canada, the diversity of the black community in Canada and its importance to the history of this country, and recognize February as Black History Month.
Moncton, N.B. – February 3, 2013 – Valerie Gibbs is one of the 18 BDM Scholarships recipients for 2012. Valerie is the daughter of UFCW Canada Local 1288P Member Michel Gibbs, who works at Co-op Atlantic in Moncton, N.B.
