A majority of the 2,500 workers at National Beef’s Dodge City, Kansas, beef slaughter and processing facility voted to join UFCW District Local 2, in an election conducted by the U.S. National Labor Relations Board, on Thursday and Friday, November 3 and 4, 2011.
UFCW Canada is calling on all activists to support a new campaign launched by the International Union of Food Workers (IUF) that asks people around the globe to make a stand for labour rights against the world’s largest food company.
On April 29, 2011, the Supreme Court of Canada delivered a decision that "abandoned agriculture workers in Ontario in their fight for dignity and respect," said National President Hanley; moments after the highest court in the land upheld Ontario legislation that denies excludes agriculture workers in Ontario from collective bargaining rights.
