Canada’s largest private-sector union is calling on Canadian politicians to follow the example of US President Barack Obama in making the creation of good jobs a top priority.

From now until Election Day on October 6, UFCW Canada is calling on all activists, friends and supporters to do everything they can to stop PC Leader Tim Hudak from imposing another Mike Harris style of government on working families.
The Agriculture Workers Alliance (AWA) celebrated a major milestone at this year’s Labour Day Parade in Toronto. After four years of community outreach and non-stop organizing, the AWA recently surpassed the 10,000 member mark – confirming its role as the largest and most dynamic farm worker organization in Canada.
In addition to the many benefits of Agriculture Workers Alliance (AWA) membership, AWA members are now also automatically covered, at no cost, by a new Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plan. As of September 6, 2011, a $2,500 benefit will be paid to the family of an AWA member who dies while contracted to work in Canada.
