The members of the UFCW United Latinos Executive Board recently gathered in Toronto to talk about the critical issues facing Latino North American workers, plan for the upcoming United Latinos Convention in Las Vegas, and mark the group's first-ever meeting in Canada.
UFCW Canada's communication efforts were recently recognized by the Canadian Association of Labour Media at the 35th Annual CALM Awards in Windsor, Ontario.
According to Statistics Canada, approximately one in three Canadian workers belonged to a union in 2009. In fact, last year 31.4% of the national workforce belonged to a union, which represents a slight increase from 2008 when 31.2% of Canadian workers bargained collectively.
UFCW Canada activists, friends, and family members from across the country will be gathering in downtown Toronto in June for the 21st Annual UFCW Canada Gala, which promises to be another memorable night for the union and Leukemia and Lymphoma research.
