2013 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship Winner: Trevor Chan, Local 1518

2013 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarships Winner: Trevor Chan, Local 1518 Burnaby, B.C. – March 4, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 1518 member Trevor Chan is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2013. Trevor (pictured receiving his scholarship cheque from Local 1518's director of member services Donna Tremblay) is enrolled as a first-year student at the BC Institute of Technology in Burnaby. Along with his earnings from his job at a Safeway store in Burnaby, his $1,000 scholarship has been earmarked  to help pay his tuition.

"I am very grateful to UFCW Canada, says Brother Chan, who is studying Business Operations. "This scholarship is very significant to me, as it shows that my union is encouraging me to pursue an education that will benefit my future. This will definitely be a factor in motivating me to become a better student. I am very glad my union supports education. Education is the key in improving the quality of life."

Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education.
