Stephen Harper – Apologize to our Canadian Veterans!
Toronto – February 14, 2014 – Recently, Tom Mulcair and the NDP introduced a motion in Parliament that would ensure that our veterans could, "count on the government for support in their time of need, and that the government should demonstrate this support by (a) immediately addressing the mental health crisis facing Canadian soldiers and veterans by hiring appropriate mental health professionals; (b) reversing its decision to close veterans' offices; and (c) prioritizing and concluding the over 50 outstanding boards of inquiry on military suicides so that grieving families may have answers and closure."
Sadly, Conservative Boss Harper, Veterans Affairs Minister Julian Fantino, and the Conservative government defeated the motion and went ahead and closed eight veterans’ offices which served thousands of Canadian veterans. The actions by Harper and Fantino towards these men and women who have served and made tremendous sacrifices on behalf of our country are disrespectful and show the arrogance of the Conservative government.
Help support our veterans by sending a letter to Prime Minister Harper, asking him to apologize to our veterans from the Canadian Forces and RCMP, for the disrespect the Harper government has shown them, and to fire Veterans Affairs Minister Fantino for the shameful way he has acted towards our veterans.
