Quebec City, QC – July 5, 2024 – UFCW Local 501 members at the Station touristique in Duchesnay held a three-day strike on July 2-4 to call out the delays from their employer and the Conseil du trésor regarding the monetary mandate for their next collective agreement.

“The decision to strike was not made lightly by the members at the Station touristique in Duchesnay. We highly hope to avoid a general indefinite strike. However, due to our employer’s and the Conseil du trésor’s inaction regarding the monetary clauses, we are forced to use this action to pressure the advancement of the negotiation and thus obtain fair working conditions,” declares Michel Carrier, union steward and spokesperson for the union members working at the Station touristique in Duchesnay.

UFCW Local 501 are still open for dialogue and urge their employer to finalize the classification evaluation and to present their monetary mandate as quickly as possible. It is imperative that the employer recognizes the efforts and engagement of its workers by offering them an equitable collective agreement, comparable to other similar institutions’ that are working year-round.
