UFCW’s webCampus wins Award of Excellence
Toronto – May 15, 2024 – UFCW’s webCampus has won an D2L 2024 Excellence Award, which acknowledges innovators delivering diverse features and tools to help make learning more personal, engaging and meaningful.
D2L is a global learning technology company and its platform Brightspace powers webCampus’s online course. The 2024 Excellence Awards recognize educators, trainers, and leaders in employee engagement who have used D2L Brightspace to help deliver learning experiences that are innovative, collaborative, or have made an extraordinary impact on learning outcomes.
D2l recognized webCampus particularly for the development of On-the-Go (OTG) modules. These modules are bite-sized pieces of content which take around 15 minutes to complete, featuring short videos, interactive elements and high visual appeal. This accessible solution to learning boosted webCampus enrollment by 25% while simultaneously increasing OTG module completion rates to 57%, outperforming the 35-40% completion rate of traditional courses. UFCW’s OTG solution is available to all UFCW members and their families across Canada: OTG courses were created to contribute to an individual’s growth, organizational success, and adaptability in a dynamic and competitive environment. You can view webCampus’s catalogue of On-the-Go modules here.
UFCW Canada believes that education can empower workers to make their mark in the world, and is committed to providing members and their families with opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge to succeed in an increasingly digital economy. With emerging technologies such as automation, artificial intelligence and robotics changing the way we live and work, UFCW Canada wants to ensure that its members aren’t left behind.
“85% of all jobs that will exist in 2030 haven’t been invented yet,” says Marv Funk, education director at UFCW Canada. “The same was true 10 years ago, too. As things change, we want to give our members the opportunity to keep learning and developing their skills—or even retrain for a new career direction. Our goal is to support their ongoing development.”
