Members at GFL Environmental achieve new collective agreement – UFCW 501
L'Ancienne-Lorette, Que. – May 3, 2024 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at GFL Environmental in L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec have achieved a new collective agreement bringing wage increases, seniority improvements, and more.
GFL Environmental provides a wide range of services related to waste management, infrastructure, and environmental solutions. GFL’s services include waste collection, disposal, recycling, among others. UFCW 501 members work as administrative and support staff.
The new three-year collective agreement includes allocation of work according to seniority, which resolves a critical issue members were facing.
Other highlights of the new contract includes wage increases in 2024 between 5% and 11%. For the following years of the agreement wage increases will be tied to the consumer price index and members will receive a salary adjustment between 2% and 4%, pursuant to the provisions of the collective agreement.
“UFCW Local 401 continues to advocate for the rights and interest of its members, assuring them fair and equitable working conditions in all sectors represented by the union,” says Daniel Nadeau, UFCW 501 Directror for Eastern Quebec.
