Members at Frito Lay achieve first contract – UFCW 1288P
Moncton, N.B. – November 13, 2023 – UFCW Canada Local 1288P members working at Frito Lay across New Brunswick have achieved their first collective agreement bringing the benefits of a UFCW contract, improved wages, health and safety standards and more.
The workers joined UFCW Local 1288P in late 2022 to address several key issues regarding their working conditions.
Some key highlights of the first collective agreement are access to the grievance procedure, just cause protection, seniority rights, route bidding, displacement protection, and more. Members also achieved improved vacation time, holiday recognition, leave of absence and sick day improvements.
“I would like to congratulate the negotiating committee on achieving a stellar first collective agreement,” says Dan Smith, President of UFCW 1288P. “The members at Frito Lay ensure that retailers of all sizes across New Brunswick always remain stocked with Canada’s favorite snack food. We’re proud of the new members who worked together to not only organize their workplace but also working with us to obtain a first collective agreement.”
