Education more affordable for BDM Scholarship winner

Waterloo, Ont. – September 5, 2023 – UFCW 12R24 member-dependent Marcus Beis is one of the latest recipients of the UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship award.

Marcus is currently in his second year of the Science and Business Biotechnology program at the University of Waterloo.

“This scholarship will help me in my educational journey through affording the cost of tuition and living expenses,” says Beis. “My education has always been an important aspect in my life, not only to learn about topics that I am passionate about, but also to gain skills needed in the workforce. I know that one day I will make a positive difference through my career path, and I know that continuing my education will help me realize what that looks like and how to get there. “

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and their families and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their relatives every year, totaling more than $300,000 in support.

The deadline to apply for the 2023 award is fast approaching. All applications must be in by September 30, 2023.
