Cambridge, Ont. – August 28, 2023 – Workers at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre have voted to join UFCW 175 & 633 this summer.
Workers in the funeral services industry often lack job security, consistent scheduling, fair compensation, and access to enhanced benefit plans.
The 10 new members at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre work as Funeral Directors, Customer Service Advocates, salespersons, administration, and bereavement service personnel.
“These workers deserve our utmost respect and appreciation for the work they do,” said UFCW 175 & 633 President Shawn Haggerty. “They have a tough job that not just anyone can do and we look forward to supporting them in their goal to create a better workplace culture.”
UFCW 175 & 633 has been representing workers in funeral home and cremation service occupations for more than 40 years and look forward to making the members’ jobs at this location more comfortable, secure, and safe. The funeral home workers are joining the UFCW 175 & 633’s Health, Office, and Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector.
