Budtenders at Canna Cabana join the union – UFCW 175 & 633
Toronto – June 22, 2023 – Budtenders at the Canna Cabana Queen St. East location in downtown Toronto have joined a growing wave of cannabis workers nationwide looking for the strength and security that comes with UFCW Canada union representation.
“Budtenders have the skills and product knowledge that drive customer loyalty and are a major resource to their employers which is why they deserve fair wages and respect on the job,” says UFCW 175 President Shawn Haggerty. “Our union is here to change the way budtenders are treated because they demand better job security, wages, benefits, and health and safety rights.”
Workers organized to deal with numerous issues throughout the campaign such as favouritism, loss of hours, job security, health and safety, in addition to wages. These workers join their Canna Cabana colleagues in Hamilton, Ontario who secured a first contract in April 2022.
