Food retail members at Independent City Market secure new contract – UFCW 1006A
Toronto – March 31, 2023 – UFCW 1006A members across three Independent City Market locations in the Toronto are celebrating a collective bargaining victory after ratifying a new contract that improves wages, scheduling and more.
“Congratulations to our members at all three Independent City Market locations on achieving a fair union contract,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “The negotiating committee worked hard to secure these much-needed improvements and they should be commended for their dedication to the task.”
The new contract includes wage increases, singing bonuses, a shortened wage progression for part-timers, improved bereavement leave, anti-discrimination language, new scheduling provisions to accommodate workplace flexibility and more.
