Food processing members at Highbury Canco end strike, ratify new contract – UFCW 175 & 633
Leamington, Ont. – March 16, 2023 – Over 430 UFCW 175 members at Highbury Canco recently took down picket-lines after ratifying a new three-year collective agreement, sounding a major victory for members.
In year one of the new collective agreement all classifications will see a $2.00 per hour increase to wages and $2.70 over the life of the contract. Maintenance will see a $2.50 increase in year one and $3.20 over the life of the contract.
Members will also be eligible for a $450 ratification bonus in lieu of retroactive pay to go alongside new shift premiums at $0.40 cents per hour for afternoon shift and $0.75 cents per hour for midnight shift.
Members also achieved increased RRSP contributions, long-term disability payments, vacation, job protections and increased contributions to the local union’s Training and Education Fund.
