Cannabis members at Tokyo Smoke secure first contract – UFCW 1006A
Toronto – November 25, 2022 – UFCW 1006A members at Tokyo Smoke are celebrating a first contract victory after successfully organizing the downtown dispensary in the summer of 2021.
“Cannabis workers know they can count on our local union to provide exceptional representation and protection,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “We are proud to have negotiated a fair first contract for our members at Tokyo Smoke in Toronto and look forward to working with them to protect and improve their rights now and into the future.”
The first contract secures across the board wage increases, paid bereavement leave, paid breaks, added statutory holidays, seniority protections, layoff and recall provisions, in addition to extended language on vacations and job postings.
